

ABOUT UPWARD BOUND

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Upward Bound Program of Orleans County is offered free to students in Albion,
Holley, Lyndonville, Kendall, and Medina High Schools. It is designed to prepare high school
students between the ages of 13 and 19 for college. The goal of Upward Bound is to
increase the rate at which participants graduate from high school and enroll in and
graduate from college.

UPWARD BOUND IS A YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM
Academic Year Component
During the school-year, participants meet with their Upward Bound advisor at least once per week. Students have the opportunity to attend college tours, workshops, and cultural field trips. Participants will also be provided with tutoring, when needed, and assistance with completion of college applications and financial aid forms.
Summer Component
The annual summer program takes place for 6 weeks, from the end of June to the beginning of August.The first 2 weeks consist of daily workshops, activities and field trips. The next 4 weeks are "residential"; participants will live on the SUNY Brockport campus, where they will attend classes and other educational activities.
